Kyiv reports that Russia has hit the gas transport system of Ukraine's Odesa Region.

A senior Ukrainian official reported on Wednesday that Russian drones had 'hit the gas transport system' in Ukraine’s southern Odesa Region. This area contains several pipelines bringing U.S. Liquefied Natural Gas to Ukraine from Greece. Mykola Kolysnyk, the deputy minister of energy, refused to say what had happened. The Ukrainian gas transit operator reported that planned volumes for the Transbalkan route, also known as the Transbalkan Gas Transit Route, were mostly unchanged.

New ambassador: US keen to expand energy ties with Greece

Kimberly Guilfoyle said that the United States was eager to strengthen energy ties with Greece, and to see it become a major energy gateway into Europe. Greece is stepping up its purchases of U.S. LNG and has built a second terminal to become a major transit point for U.S. gas imported into Europe. New sanctions against Moscow over its war in Ukraine will force European states to stop using Russian gas by 2027.

Energean CEO: New $400 million Israel to Cyprus gas pipeline is awaiting approval from government

The head of Eastern Mediterranean gas producer Energean said on Tuesday that a $400 million pipeline will transport natural gas between Israel and Cyprus. Israel has also expressed its support. Energean signed on Monday a letter-of-intent with Cyfield, the leading Cypriot energy and industrial group, for the possible supply of natural gases from Israel via the new pipeline to Cyfield’s planned power station, according to Mathios Rigas, CEO of British firm.

Prices of gas in Europe are fluctuating due to a strong supply and milder temperatures.

Dutch and British wholesale gasoline prices traded in a narrow band on Friday morning, as forecasts of milder weather and strong supply were expected to increase inventories. LSEG data shows that the benchmark Dutch front-month contract was up 0.20 euros at 31.50 Euro per megawatt hour at TTF hub, or $10.83/mmBtu at 0914 GMT. The Dutch day-ahead contracts was up by 0.33 euros at 31.13 Euro/MWh. The British November gas prices increased by 0.66 pence to 80.50 pence a therm.

Italy's Energy Minister sets out a path to reduce gas prices

Guyana invites companies to apply for NGL facilities

According to an announcement published on Sunday by the South American Government, Guyana is seeking a company that will build a facility to produce natural gas liquids as part of its efforts to monetize offshore gas reserves. Storage and offloading facilities would receive liquids at a rate of 4,200 barrels a day from presently under construction separation plants. The benchmark Dutch gas price has fallen on EU's Ukraine gas transport push

Dutch wholesale gas fell below 40 euro ($43.31), for the first time in this year, after news broke that European leaders were set to ask EU authorities and Kyiv intensify their talks to resolve an end to Russian gas transiting through Ukraine. By 1606 GMT, the benchmark front-month contract for the Dutch TTF hub had fallen by 2.15 euros to 38.85 euros/MWh, or $12.26/mmBtu. LSEG data show that the contract reached 38.48 Euros in early trade, its lowest since November 2024.

Equinor's trading arm and the French energy regulator fined Equinor $12.5 million

The French energy regulator CRE fined Equinor of Norway and its trading subsidiary Danske Commodities 12 million euros ($12.5million) for violating wholesale gas market regulations. Gazprom raises its 2024 investment program by 4%, to $16,9 billion

Gazprom, the Russian energy giant, announced on Tuesday that it had increased its investment programme for 2024 by around 4%. The previous program was approved in December and consisted of 1.57 trillion Russian roubles. This has now been raised to 1.64 trillion Russian roubles (16.85 billion dollars). Gazprom reported that both domestic and export gas supplies were increasing, which allowed the company to increase its estimates of sales proceeds this year by 6% over its previous forecast.

Prices for gas in Europe are lower due to a revised forecast but concerns about supply persist.

The Dutch and British wholesale gas prices fell slightly on Tuesday morning due to small changes in weather forecasts. They had risen more than 2% on Monday, mainly because of colder forecasts. LSEG data shows that the benchmark front-month contract for the Dutch TTF hub fell by 0.09 euros to 39.90 Euro per megawatt hour at 0756 GMT. The Dutch day-ahead contracts was down by 0.21 euros at 39.67 Euro/MWh.
