ABS Published FSRU Development Guidance
ABS has published the ABS Guide for Building and Classing LNG Regasification Vessels, outlining guidance for classing LNG regasification vessels. “ABS has developed this industry-leading guidance based on extensive experience with the classification of LNG carriers,” says ABS Chairman, President and CEO Christopher J. Wiernicki. Floating LNG regasification uses specialized ships, commonly referred to as LNG regasification vessels or Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRU), which offer a flexible and efficient way to deliver LNG to new and expanding markets.
Gasum now Biggest Biogas Producer in Nordic countries
Gasum has purchased 100% of the shares of the Swedish biogas producer Swedish Biogas International. The transaction makes Gasum the biggest producer of biogas in the Nordic countries. In the transaction concluded today, five biogas plants located in Jordberga, Katrineholm, Lidköping and Örebro as well as a majority shareholding in a production plant located in Västerås, Sweden, are transferred to Gasum’s ownership. Swedish Biogas International also has a 50% shareholding in Vadsbo Biogas.
Wärtsilä Biohybrid plant for Germany
Wärtsilä has been awarded the contract to supply a biohybrid production plant to the German energy company, Erdgas Südwest GmbH. The new plant will produce both bioLNG (liquefied biogas) and LNG. The contract with Wärtsilä was signed in December, and delivery will be made on a fast-track basis. The Wärtsilä delivery will include the company's unique liquefaction system. Moreover, the system is specially designed to clean and liquefy both biogas and pipeline gas streams.

Wärtsilä Re-gasification system for Norwegian Ship Conversion
Wärtsilä has been contracted to supply the re-gasification system for an FSRU (Floating, Storage, Re-gasification Unit) conversion project that Höegh LNG plans to carry out on a modern LNG vessel. The contract was signed in August. The Wärtsilä re-gasification system to be supplied will feature regas technology using water glycol as the intermediate medium instead of propane. This provides a more compact solution being some 15 percent smaller and lighter than the propane based system.

Wärtsilä' Inert Gas Solution for LNG Carriers
Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) in South Korea has contracted Wärtsilä to supply combined inert gas generators and gas combustion units for 17 new LNG Carrier vessels under construction at the company's yards. The vessels are being built for leading operators in Singapore, Greece, South Korea, Cyprus and Canada. These significant contracts with Wärtsilä were signed in June and September. These will be the first ever units delivered by Wärtsilä that combine inert gas generators (IGG) and gas combustion units (GCU) with high capacity.
ABS to Class Two More Kogas LNG Carriers
ABS has been selected to class two Liquefied Natural Gas Carriers (LNGCs) for SK Shipping, featuring the KC-1 cargo containment system (CCS). The agreement brings to five the number of LNGCs to be built to joint ABS/KR class for Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS), the world's largest LNG importer. HHI Orders Regasification Systems from Wärtsilä
South Korean shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has ordered two seawater/propane based regasification modules from Wärtsilä. The systems are to be installed on floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) vessels owned by Höegh LNG, the Norway based owner and operator of floating energy solutions, and by Russian energy company Gazprom. The contracts, which were signed in July, also include an option for a further contract from HHI for another Höegh vessel that is valid until December of this year.
India's Planned West Coast LNG Plant Attracts 4 Bids
India Gas Solutions, a joint venture of Reliance Industries Ltd and BP, U.S.-based Excelerate Energy and Japan's Mitsui and Co Ltd have bid to build a gas import facility on India's west coast, a company official said. A consortium of Norway's Hoegh LNG and IMC infrastructure has also participated in the initial tender, said R. M. Parmar, chairman of Mumbai Port Trust. Energy-hungry India is building liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals at various locations to boost the use of the fuel to cut carbon emissions and improve air quality.
