Quadrise Fuels Signs MoU with Freepoint Commodities

Fuel oil technology firm Quadrise Fuels International said it had signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with commodities trader Freepoint Commodities to provide commercial opportunities for its MSAR fuel technology product.The Synthetic fuel developer said that this followed the effective end of a trial in Saudi Arabia for a combustion boiler project that would have used MSAR due to the lack of an agreement between the utilities involved.

Partners to Develop Western Australia LNG Supply

Woodside and GE have signed an agreement to work together to support the use of LNG as a fuel in Western Australia. The agreement will provide customers with the option of seamless access to reliable LNG fuel supply and gas-fuelled transport and power generation solutions. Woodside CEO Peter Coleman said that this type of collaboration was key to development of the LNG fuel market in Western Australia.

Maersk, Qatargas Ink LNG Propulsion Deal

The world’s largest LNG exporter Qatargas has signed a technical collaboration agreement with the Maersk Group to explore opportunities related to the use of LNG marine propulsion. It is estimated that the use of LNG propulsion can lead to a potential reduction in CO2 emissions of 25% compared to the use of conventional shipping fuels. The technical collaboration agreement, letter of intent, between Qatargas and the Maersk Group was signed by Mr.

Wärtsilä 50DF Engine Operates on Ethane

The Wärtsilä 50DF marine engine has been tested and certified to run on ethane (LEG) fuel. The testing program was carried out by Wärtsilä in close collaboration with Evergas, an owner and operator of seaborne petrochemical and liquid gas transport vessels. "We are very pleased that the Wärtsilä engines will be capable of utilizing ethane boil-off gas as fuel. It increases our operational efficiency and improves flexibility in the bunkering of fuels.

KNOC Sells Aging Newfoundland Refinery to SilverRange

Korea National Oil Corp said on Friday that it would sell its 115,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Come by Chance, Newfoundland, to SilverRange Financial Partners LLC for an undisclosed price following a months-long search to find a buyer. KNOC's Harvest Operations Corp unit is selling the aging refinery, as well as 53 gas stations and convenience stores, to SilverRange.

Wärtsilä Get Repeat Siem Offshore Dual-fuel PSV Orders

Siem Offshore has again contracted Wärtsilä to supply the design and integrated solutions for four new platform supply vessels (PSVs) to be built at the Remontowa Shipbuilding yard in Poland. The four new vessels, like the two currently under construction, will utilise the Wärtsilä VS 4411 DF ship design and will have Wärtsilä dual-fuel propulsion allowing them to operate primarily on liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Harvey Gulf Breaks Ground with LNG Facility

Louisiana out in front on LNG bunkering infrastructure. New Orleans-based Harvey Gulf International Marine (HGIM) has announced the ground breaking of construction on its $25 million Phase 1, Slip B, LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) fueling facility at their Port Fourchon, LA terminal. When operational later this year, HGIM’s LNG facility will be the first of its kind in the United States.

Qatar Champions LNG as Cleaner Marine Fuel

Nakilat, Qatargas and RasGas Company Limited will convert a Q-Max vessel as a pilot project making it capable of running on LNG and reducing the ship’s exhaust gas and greenhouse gas emissions. Qatari shipping company Nakilat and Qatari LNG producers Qatargas and RasGas Company Limited have agreed with engine manufacturer MAN Diesel and Turbo to convert a Q-Max vessel to use LNG as an alternative to heavy fuel oil in the main engines.
