Stirling Group Altor Open Doors for O&G Skills Week
An Aberdeen HSE and risk management firm opened its doors to give people a glimpse of how varied a career in oil and gas can be. Stirling Group Altor took part in the first ever National Oil and Gas Skills Week which welcomed 4,000 people to more than 50 events at venues across the UK. Organizers OPITO, the industry skills organization, said an average of 1,000 people per day took part in the inaugural National Oil and Gas Skills Week which saw events of all shapes and sizes take place in Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Fort William, North Shields and London from November 11-14.
New Skills Resource for the O&G Industry
A new resource developed to help people source accurate information about the UK oil and gas sector has been unveiled in Aberdeen. HM Government’s Industrial Strategy, launched in 2013 to deliver long-term plans to secure jobs and growth in the UK’s key economic sectors, highlighted the need for one centralized online portal to provide a more proactive and co-ordinated approach to providing relevant information on oil and gas skills. Fergus Ewing Visits the Underwater Center
Minister sees new vessels and discusses plans for development. On Monday, October 21, 2013, the Underwater Center in Fort William hosted a visit by the Scottish Government's Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism, Fergus Ewing. Ewing, who is also MSP for Inverness and Nairn, was visiting the subsea training and trials facility to discuss development plans and see first-hand the Centre’s work-class ROVs and two new barges, in which it has invested to meet the demand for its commercial diving and ROV Pilot Technician training courses.
