Essar Oil Settles $2.5 bln Iran Oil Sues, Still Owes

Essar Oil has settled about 2 billion euros ($2.5 billion) in dues to Iran to cover previous oil purchases and still owes the country about $616 million, Chief Executive B. Anand said on Thursday. The outstanding payments stem from delays in paying for Iranian oil when the country was under international sanctions over its nuclear programme. The sanctions ended in 2016.

Indian, Chinese Oil Companies Look to Invest in Ecuador

Indian oil company ONGC Videsh is looking at buying a stake in oil fields in Ecuador and may also participate in an upcoming tender for the Intercampos blocks, Ecuador's oil minister Carlos Perez said on Wednesday. "We will be signing a confidentiality agreement with them (ONGC Videsh) in the following weeks and we will provide them with information in new blocks," he said on the sidelines of the International Energy Forum.

Mexico Expects to Hold a Third O&G Auction in 2018

Mexico's oil regulator will likely add another oil auction in 2018 featuring conventional onshore oil and gas blocks, a senior official said on Thursday, potentially teeing up a third tender in an election year. Saudis: US Shale Not an Issue

U.S. shale oil coming to the market is not a concern, Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih said on Thursday, adding that demand will absorb it. "Shale coming in and happening again in 2018 doesn't bother me at all. The market can absorb it," he said, speaking at an energy forum in Moscow. Falih said oil demand was healthy around the world, and there was a steady reduction in global oil inventories.

Reuters exclusively reported in July that Rosneft was negotiating to switch its collateral in the refiner for oilfield stakes and a fuel supply deal - a move to avoid complications from U.S. sanctions and legal problems, sources said at the time.
