Petronas Indonesia plans major expansion, says country head

Petronas, the Malaysian state-owned energy company, plans to expand "aggressively" in Indonesia. It will create a hub in East Java for its operations and invest in exploration of Indonesia's remote eastern regions. The new government of Indonesian President Prabowo Subito, which came into office in this month, pledged to boost energy development and reverse a decade-long decline by the former OPEC country.

GIC and Macquarie are interested in selling a $2 billion stake in EDC Philippines, according to sources

Two sources familiar with the matter have confirmed that Macquarie and GIC are considering selling their roughly 30% stake in Energy Development Corp. (EDC) of the Philippines, a deal which could bring in $2 billion. Sources who declined to identify themselves because the discussions are private said that they were in preliminary discussions with advisors, and that no decisions had been taken.

France will stick to its wind energy development targets

The French government is targeting a growth rate in onshore wind energy of 1.5 gigawatts per year, said Energy Minister Olga Givernet on Wednesday. This would be in line the renewable energy goals set by the previous government. The far-right National Rally made wind power a major part of their campaign in the lead up to the parliamentary elections this summer.

Vietnam will select an investor for the $2.5 billion Nghi Son LNG Power Plant by October

A provincial official in Vietnam's Thanh Hoa Province said that authorities plan to select a developer for a $2.5billion LNG-fired energy plant by October through a competitive bidding process. The Nghi Son LNG Power Plant, located in the Nghi Son Economic zone of the province, would have a capacity of 1.5 gigawatts. It would begin commercial operations in 2030.

First tender for investment in wind and solar plants seeks to attract Moldovan investors

Moldova has launched its first bid for wind and solar energy plants as part of its efforts to reduce its dependence on Russian power. "Opening the market to investors for renewable energy development is another important step in ensuring greater security of energy for Moldova," said Energy Minister Victor Parlicov. The development of renewables is a step towards achieving energy independence in Moldova.
