Orsted Seeks Ways to Avoid Brexit Tariffs

DONG Energy to Build Hub for UK Offshore Wind

Denmark's DONG Energy said on Thursday it would build a multi-million-dollar maintenance hub in Grimsby, northeast England, to provide services for its offshore wind operations. The new facility would, subject to planning approval, be built at the town's Royal Dock and provide maintenance support to the company's wind farms in the region. "It represents a massive vote of confidence to the UK offshore wind industry and confirms our commitment to the Humber region where by 2019 we expect to have invested around 6 billion pounds ($7.8 billion)," Brent Cheshire, DONG Energy's UK country chairman, said in a statement.

MMT has been granted a contract from DONG Energy Wind Power for UXO inspections and excavations of various contacts with option on disposal and removal at Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm, off the east coast of England. The Race Bank project is planned with 91 wind turbine generators, two offshore substations and two export cables. Based on previous surveys, a number of ferromagnetic and acoustic contacts have bene identified at discrete locations which may impede wind farm component installation and therefore need to be inspected visually to confirm their identity. Many of the ferromagnetic contacts are expected to be caused by objects buried by marine sediments.

3sun Group, a specialist provider of products and services to the global energy industry, has established a new training program as part of the Group’s continued commitment to developing future industry talent. The program, which has been created in collaboration with the international engineering and operation contractor, Offshore Design Engineering Limited (ODE), aims to enhance the skillset of apprentices aspiring to enter the energy industry. Throughout April and May, six third year apprentices will get the opportunity to spend time offshore as part of their NVQ course, Electrical, Mechanical Instrumentation.
