Crowley Approved to Import Canada-sourced LNG

Crowley Maritime Corp. ’s petroleum distribution group has been granted approval by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Energy Board – Canada (NEB) to import Canadian-sourced liquefied natural gas (LNG) for supply, transportation and distribution throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. The renewable, two-year import and export licenses now allow the company to import up to 2.12 billion cubic feet (BCF) of LNG via truck in 10,700-gallon ISO tanks or in bulk via oceangoing vessels, Crowley said.

Crowley Maritime Corp. informs it has responded to increased market demand, acquiring 16 additional ISO tanks for its Carib Energy group that will be used to supply, transport and distribute U.S.-sourced liquefied natural gas (LNG) to customers in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and Central America. The 40-foot tanks, which each hold 10,700 gallons of LNG, now feature technological improvements that increase the offload rate, allowing for faster fuel transfers to customers.

Crowley Maritime Corp.’s Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) services group has been awarded a second, multiyear contract to supply containerized, U.S.-sourced LNG to a pharmaceutical company’s manufacturing plants in Puerto Rico. The contract, executed through Crowley’s Carib Energy subsidiary, includes the fuel supply and transportation of LNG, helping the customer yield lowered emissions and an alternative to their current fuel source, diesel. Other benefits include an uninterrupted fuel supply due to the abundance and availability of U.S.-sourced LNG.

Pivotal to Deliver LNG to Carib for use in Puerto Rico

Pivotal LNG, Inc., a subsidiary of AGL Resources, announced this week a long-term agreement to sell liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Crowley Maritime Corp. subsidiary Carib Energy LLC (Carib). The LNG will be delivered to Puerto Rico. This is the first delivery of LNG for industrial customers in that U.S. territory. "We are pleased to work with Crowley to support industries in Puerto Rico with the delivery of cost-effective, emission-reducing LNG," said Stephen Cittadine, president of Pivotal.

Crowley Gets Small-Scale NFTA LNG Supply License

Crowley Maritime Corp. informs that its subsidiary Carib Energy LLC has been granted a 20-year, small-scale U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) export license for the supply, transportation and distribution of U.S.-sourced liquefied natural gas (LNG) into Non-Free Trade Agreement (NTFA) countries in the Caribbean, Central and South America. As a result, both commercial and industrial customers within NFTA countries can now benefit from cost-efficient, environmentally friendly LNG exported from the U.S.

US Approves LNG Exports from Sempra, Carib Energy Projects

The U.S. Energy Department on Wednesday approved liquefied natural gas exports from two projects, as lawmakers pressed the administration to move quickly to clear a backlog of applications to ship gas abroad. Sempra Energy's Cameron LNG facility in Louisiana and Carib Energy's small-scale export project in Florida are the first projects to receive final permits from the department to export gas to non-free-trade-agreement countries since Cheniere's Sabine Pass project was approved in 2012.

Jensen to Design LNG Bunker Barges

Houston-based LNG fuel supply and distribution company LNG America LLC announced today that it has contracted Jensen Maritime, Crowley Maritime Corp.'s Seattle-based naval architecture and marine engineering company, to design the initial bunker/shuttle barge for its U.S. Gulf Coast operations. Currently no LNG bunkering barges are in operation in American waterways, and these vessels will be among the first to be developed and built, marking a significant step in LNG America’s build-out of LNG bunkering infrastructure along the U.S.
