Total Makes Discovery Off South Africa

French oil and gas major Total said it had made a significant gas condensate discovery after drilling its Brulpadda prospects on Block 11B/12B in the Outeniqua Basin, offshore South Africa.Total said the Brulpadda well encountered 57 meters of net gas condensate pay in Lower Cretaceous reservoirs. Fugro's Asset Integrity Program Monitors North Sea Platform

Fugro is marking a 35-year history of providing an asset integrity programme on one of the Ninian oil field platforms in the North Sea. Operator CNR International is working with Fugro to monitor the structural integrity of the Ninian Southern Platform (NSP) using a permanent online monitoring (OLM) system. Following completion of initial structural integrity measurements in 1979, Fugro installed the OLM system on the platform in 1985 and since then it has carried out multiple upgrades. The current system is contracted through to 2020.

Murchison Decommissioned after 30 Years of Operation

STATS Group in collaboration with Paradigm Flow Services and Halliburton safely and successfully isolated, de-oiled, plugged and abandoned two 3.5” subsea flowlines as part of the Murchison decommissioning project. After nearly 30 years of operation in the Northern North Sea, the CNR International operated Murchison field had reached the end of its production life. Prior to the removal of the topsides jacket, it became evident that two subsea flowlines were still connected to the platform. These lines were known to still contain hydrocarbons and required to be de-oiled and cut to enable the heavy lift scope.

Total to Resume South African Offshore Drilling

French oil major Total is expected to resume drilling offshore South Africa in the second half of 2016, part of a broader campaign to explore in Africa, a senior official said on Wednesday. Total last year stopped drilling off the southern coast of South Africa after experiencing mechanical problems with its rig during high winds and rough seas in the Outeniqua Basin, about 175 km (109 miles) off the southern coast of South Africa. XPD8 Seals Condition Monitoring Contract

XPD8 Solutions, an asset integrity management specialist, informs it has secured a two-year contract with CNR International. The agreement will see the Aberdeen-headquartered firm provide condition monitoring services to five CNR platforms in the North Sea. Having already provided cover to CNR International’s UKCS assets over the past eight years, this latest contract will take XPD8 to a decade working for the Canadian independent oil and natural gas production company. Repairs Halt Total's S.African Ops; Resumption not Prior 2016

S.Africa wants 30 wells drilled in next 10 years; Total woes a setback to S.Africa exploration drive. French energy major Total has halted oil exploration off the southern coast of Africa due to mechanical problems with a rig, meaning it will not be able to resume searching in the area before 2016, a company official said on Tuesday. The news is a huge setback to South Africa's plans to have 30 exploration wells drilled in the next 10 years as the continent's most advanced economy strives to reduce its heavy reliance on imported oil.

Subsea 7 S.A. Awarded Contract in the Ivory Coast

Subsea 7 S.A. has been awarded a contract in the Ivory Coast by CNR International (Côte d’Ivoire) SARL (CNR International) in support of its Baobab Field Phase III development. The scope of work covers the installation of spools and umbilicals. The effective date of the contract is 25 September 2014, with the main offshore installation phase expected to be executed by the Subsea 7 vessel the Seven Pacific in the second quarter of 2015. Onshore project management and engineering will be carried out from the Company’s Paris office.

Decom North Sea (DNS), the offshore oil and gas decommissioning forum, is hosting a “lunch and learn” event to give supply chain companies the opportunity to present their offshore decommissioning capabilities and encourage knowledge share among members. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 19, at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, Aberdeen, from 12-2 p.m. The event will include a presentation from Claxton Engineering, a company providing a broad range of cutting and abandonment services using methodologies that have been deployed on more than 260 well abandonments and slot recoveries.
