Offshore Energy: LR Supports Mozambique FLNG Project

The scope of work that LR is undertaking covers design, procurement, certification, construction, integration and commissioning, as well as providing classification services under a risk based inspection regime to the FLNG when it enters into service in 2022.The Coral South field is being developed by Eni in Area Four of the Rovuma Basin, off the coast of Mozambique. The floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) unit will be Africa’s first floating gas facility.

ABS Spearheads Offshore Standardization JIP

ABS, a provider of classification services to the global offshore industry, has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Korean shipbuilders Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) to establish a joint industry project (JIP) with operators, drilling contractors and engineering companies to develop new international design standards for offshore oil and gas projects.

DNV GL Wins Ichthys LNG project Contract

DNV GL has secured a contract to provide in-service verification and classification services to a range of facilities at the Ichthys LNG project in Australia. The contract marks INPEX’s commitment to continue working with DNV GL as it prepares to transition from the project execution phase to the operational phase of the mega project. DNV GL has provided vendor inspection, verification and offshore classification support to the USD 34 billion venture since 2012.

ABS Grants AIP for MES FPSO Design

ABS, a provider of classification services to the global offshore industry, has granted Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. (MES) approval in principle (AIP) for a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel design and an epoch-making construction concept, the classification society announced today. This work is the result of an ABS/MES joint development project that began in March 2015.

Baoham Offshore (HK) Ltd. has selected ABS to provide classification services for newbuilds in China. ABS, a provider of marine and offshore classification services, has been selected by Baoham Offshore (HK) Ltd. to class a drilling semisubmersible and a liftboat. "This award is a reflection of the solid reputation ABS has built as a classification society over more than 30 years in China," said ABS Executive Vice President of Energy Project Development Ken Richardson.

DNV GL Oil & Gas to Expand in Norway

DNV GL is relocating its oil and gas head office in Norway from Høvik to Stavanger in order to be even closer to its customers, the company said. A New Phase for LNG Carriers Training

RS has carried out a new phase of surveyors training on classification services for LNG carriers. The first phase (2008-2010) was carried out by RS in cooperation with American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and included a theoretical course for surveyors according to joint program and a practical training on LNG carriers directed by qualified ABS mentors.
