Futures on the TSX fall before domestic GDP data

The futures linked to Canada's main index of stocks fell on Thursday, as disappointing earnings from U.S. technology giants dampened the market sentiment ahead of important domestic GDP and U.S. Economic data that will be released later in the day. At 6:00 a.m., December futures for the S&P/TSX Index were down by 0.3%. ET (10:00 GMT). Wall Street futures dropped on Thursday as Meta Platforms' and Microsoft's warnings about artificial intelligence-related costs dampened optimism.

Alberta regulator fines Imperial Oil over tailings leak

Alberta Energy Regulator announced on Thursday that it had imposed a C$50,000 administrative penalty ($36,764.71) against Imperial Oil for a toxic tailings spill at Kearl Oil Sands Mine. The leak lasted months. The AER also requested that the Canadian energy company submit two reports in order to increase awareness of the leaks. One report will focus on monitoring and mitigating seepage, and the second on the possible impacts of the release industrial wastewater.

Enbridge Sells Stakes in French Offshore Wind Projects

Enbridge to Put More of Ohio TEAL Natgas Pipe Into Service

Global Marine Group (GMG) announced that it has been awarded a contract from E.ON to install a fibre optic cable at the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm, under construction 13km off the coast of Sussex, UK. Upon completion the cable will run from the shore to an offshore substation, providing a vital communications link for this major wind farm. The installation is expected to be completed later this month.
