ConocoPhillips: Syncrude Outage Affecting Output

A production shutdown at the Syncrude oil sands facility in northern Alberta has impacted output from ConocoPhillips' Surmont thermal plant, helping push heavy Canadian crude prices to their narrowest discount in nearly two years. The 350,000 barrel-per-day Syncrude project cut production for all of April to zero, according to market sources, following a fire last month that damaged the facility and forced the operator to bring forward planned maintenance. FairfieldNodal Names New President, CEO

Seismic data and technology company FairfieldNodal announced the appointment of Charles “Chuck” W. Davison, Jr., as its new president and CEO, succeeding Walter Pharris, who is retiring after 35 years. Pharris will continue to serve as chairman of the company’s board of directors. Davison brings with him expertise in global operations and business management. Before joining FairfieldNodal, he was senior vice president at Oceaneering International, Inc., where he had worldwide P&L responsibility for their subsea products group.

Drydocks World's Components for Johan Sverdrup Jacket

Drydocks World has been awarded the contract from Kvaerner to carry out the fabrication of components on the Johan Sverdrup Riser Platform Jacket for end-user Statoil, to be located in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. Kvaerner won contract from Statoil in January and Drydocks World will carry out the fabrication of pile clusters and floatation tanks including surface protection for the Johan Sverdrup Riser platform jacket. The pile clusters will form the base of the jacket where the structure is piled to the seabed, and the tanks will be used for launching and installation of the jackets on site.

Production Begins at Santos Basin Pre-salt Iracema Sul

Petrobras announced that platform Cidade de Mangaratiba went into operation today at the Santos Basin pre-salt area of Iracema Sul, in Lula field, located on block BM-S-11. The start-up of the new platform was anticipated since the original expected start-up, as provided for in the 2014-2018 Business & Management Plan, had been scheduled for November 6, 2014. The platform Cidade de Mangaratiba is an FPSO (floating production storage and offloading) type unit and it was contracted in September 2011 from the Schahin-Modec consortium.
