Husain appointed ABB’s CTO

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has appointed Bazmi Husain as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective January 1, 2016. Husain, an expert in power and automation who has been with ABB for more than 30 years, will report to CEO Ulrich Spiesshofer. Husain is currently Managing Director of ABB India Ltd. ABB's Intelligent Switchgear for Yara Plant

$25 million project will support leading fertilizer company Yara to ensure highest levels of safety and reliability ABB, the global leader in power and automation technologies, announced today that it will supply MNS low voltage switchgear to upgrade a production plant of Yara, the leading global fertilizer company in Porsgrunn, Norway. The MNS low voltage switchgear would cover a distance of more than a kilometer if stood end to end. ABB has booked first orders under the frame agreement in the first quarter of 2015.

Gomtec to Drive ABB's Robotics Portfolio

ABB announced today acquired Gomtec GmbH to expand its offering in the field of collaborative robots. The parties agreed not to disclose financial terms of the transaction. Gomtec, based near Munich, Germany, is a privately held company that develops mechatronic systems combining mechanical, electrical, telecommunications, control and computer engineering for customers in diverse industries. Zurich, Switzerland, February 26, 2015 – ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, registered more patent applications with the European Patent Office (EPO) than any other Swiss-based company in 2014. ABB to Upgrade Sri Lanka's power infrastructure

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has won an order worth about $40 million from Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to supply two new 220-kilovolt (kV) substations and upgrade an existing substation in Sri Lanka.The order was booked in the fourth quarter of 2014. The new substations will be constructed at Polpitiya in the Central Province and Padukka near the capital, Colombo, in the Western Province, while the existing substation at Pannipitiya, a suburb of Colombo, will be augmented.The project is scheduled for completion in 2017.

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has won an order worth around $30 million from DONG Energy, a leading wind power development company, to supply a high-voltage export cable system that will transmit power from the Burbo Bank Extension Offshore Wind Farm in the UK. ABB’s project scope includes the design, engineering, supply and commissioning of the 25 kilometer (km) long 220 kilovolt (kV) AC (alternating current) submarine cable and the related offshore substation cable.
