SPE Aberdeen Names Lowdon Chairman
The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Aberdeen Section has appointed Ross Lowdon as Chairman. He takes over from Anthony Onukwu and will hold the chairmanship until September 2015. Beginning his career as a hydrographic surveyor, Lowdon has more than 20 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry and is currently the head of the surveying domain for Schlumberger Drilling & Measurement, globally.
BP to Outline Enhanced Oil Recovery
Euan Duncan, Discipline Lead Reservoir Engineer at BP, will address SPE Aberdeen’s members and the wider public on April 23, at a presentation covering how EOR works and the opportunities this technology presents when conditions are right. Duncan will discuss the BP North Sea EOR program and lessons learned from water-alternating gas projects in the Miller, Ula and Magnus fields.
Offshore Risk Management Focus at SPE Event
Former Subsea 7 Global Insurance Director, Robert Armstrong, will present on the topic of "Contractual Risk Management from an Insurance Perspective" at a Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Aberdeen event next week. Armstrong will discuss the role of insurance within the overall risk management strategy of oil and gas companies, and identify areas where this can add value.
