Vattenfall, Swedish energy giants and other industry leaders join forces to invest in new energy sources

The companies announced on Tuesday that Sweden's largest utility Vattenfall will explore joint investments in new fossil free power production to meet the growing electricity demand as part of decarbonisation efforts. Vattenfall, along with Industrikraft, a group that includes Alfa Laval Boliden SKF Stora Enso, Boliden and the Volvo Group, is investigating how, when, and what investments they can make together. Borg stated that the annual Swedish power demand will double by 2045 from 140-150 Terawatt Hours (TWh), as Sweden enters its next phase of industrialization.

WinGD, Alfa Laval Team to Advance Ammonia-powered Engines

Alfa Laval and WinGD established a partnership in which Alfa Laval will deliver two fuel supply systems (FSS) for testing WinGD’s ammonia-fuelled engine in early 2024, a step in the development of ammonia as a future fuel for marine vessels.Alfa Laval will deliver the FSS for the injector test system and FSS for the engine test bench in early 2024. The project is in the framework of WinGD’s and Alfa Laval's earlier agreement for cooperation on methanol and ammonia, signed in 2022. CSA 2020 Applauds DFDS on EGCS Drive

Alfa Laval's Volume, Profit Both Beat Street

Engineering group Alfa Laval reported quarterly earnings and order intake above market expectations on the back of an upturn in the oil and gas sector on Monday and forecast demand would remain at the same level in the second quarter. The company, a maker of products such as heat exchangers, separators and ballast water treatment equipment, reported order intake of 10.0 billion crowns, above the 9.6 billion seen by analysts. "Improved activity in upstream oil and gas, on shore, as well as in the off-shore sector contributed to both Energy and Marine reporting a somewhat better order intake than we had expected," it said in a statement.

Alfa Laval EGR-HPE Economizer a Boon

With Tier III NOx limits entering into force in North America and the US Caribbean in January 2016, the time has come for many ship owners to choose their method of compliance. Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) on MAN B&W engines has strong advantages on its own.
