Gazprom Says Progress Made in EU Anti-trust Talks

Gazprom said on Friday that anti-trust talks with the European Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager had made progress. Gazprom Deputy CEO to Meet EU's Vestager

Gazprom Deputy Chief Executive Alexander Medvedev plans to meet European Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager after May 10, Interfax news agency reported, citing Medvedev, on Tuesday.   Gazprom and the European Commission are moving towards a "mutually acceptable" solution in resolving antitrust charges against the Russian state-controlled company, it said in March. Gazprom on 'Statement of Objections' by EU Commission

On April 22, 2015 the European Commission published a press release on its official website, according to which the European Commission adopted a “statement of objections” in the course of ongoing antitrust investigation of OAO “Gazprom” activity in the European Union (EU). OAO Gazprom considers the claims brought by the European Commission to be unsubstantiated. In the meantime, the adoption of the “statement of objections” by the European Commission is just one of the stages of the antitrust investigation and does not imply holding OAO “Gazprom” liable for any violation of the EU antitrust legislation.

GasAtacama has US LNG Providers Lined Up

GasAtacama, energy provider to metal producers in Chile's Atacama desert, has lined up eight potential U.S. natural gas suppliers for a proposed import terminal on its Pacific Coast, but uncertainty about energy demand has delayed deals, CEO Rudolf Araneda told Reuters on Thursday. GasAtacama plans to build a $350 million offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal that would take shipments of the fuel to help create 500 megawatts of electricity for power-hungry miners in the mineral-rich north.
