After providing the complete motion compensation packages for Opus Offshore’s Tiger I and Tiger II drill ships, Drilling Technological Innovations, LLC (DTI) was awarded equivalent packages for the Tiger III and Tiger IV drill ships.

The scope of supply includes sets of 200k wireline tensioners, 800k crown mounted compensators (CMCs), and DTI proprietary riser recoil valve systems. All systems will be designed and built from DTI’s headquarters and manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas.

The plans for Tiger III and Tiger IV were set resulting from the success of Tiger I and Tiger II, marking the first drillships built in China. In designing the Tiger drillships, Opus Offshore chose DTI as part of their strategy to select suppliers with expertise in providing reliable and efficient components. For example, the DTI wireline tensioners feature riser recoil valves, structured to provide reliable safety.

David Trent, DTI President and CEO, stated, “We are proud to be part of an important event in the history of China as well as the offshore drilling industry. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Opus Offshore to provide industry-best motion compensation solutions.”
