A team from Johnston Carmichael is to visit the Middle East next week as an increasing number of its oil and gas clients look towards investment in this fast growth region.

The drop in oil price and current uncertainties in the North Sea have meant companies are looking for new countries and emirates to expand into, with the UAE market proving to be a popular choice thanks to its track record and relative stability.

Johnston Carmichael  will be talking with businesses and financial experts during the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) on 10-13 November.

Business development director Craig Yeoman will be travelling to Abu Dhabi along with head of oil and gas and corporate finance partner Graham Alexander. Graham said: “By visiting the exhibition and meeting with financial experts on the ground, we can increase our knowledge about the operating frameworks in the region.

“We will be able to use this knowledge to continue offering clients with the high quality service we are renowned for, on an international level, and provide them with significant introductions in the region.

“We are also keen to find out how a price of just over $80 per barrel will impact upon investment and operational decisions in this key market, and how this will in turn impact upon the global oil and gas market.”

Last year, Johnston Carmichael became part of the global PKF network and since then has been working with colleagues in oil and gas hubs around the world who can support with the international accountancy, taxation and business advisory needs of its clients.

Graham and Craig will spend time with their PKF Middle East counterparts, to discuss how they will continue to mutually support businesses operating in these two key energy regions.

Graham continued: “As well as meeting with our PKF colleagues in the UAE, we are also using this opportunity to meet with UK based companies exhibiting at the show as well as Middle Eastern companies which are interested in working in the UK. “ADIPEC is a fantastic opportunity for our team to further analyze this emerging market and its potential for our clients.”
