DBR to Deliver Custom Gas Genset for Platform E17a-A
DBR Generatorsets is on course to complete construction of a gas engine driven generator set for GDF SUEZ E&P Nederland B.V. in time for installation on the E17a-A platform at the end of the year. Due to space restrictions on the existing platform, DBR is fabricating a custom engineered generator set.
“We are using a modified design to deal with the lack of space on the platform,” said DBR Sales Manager Henri Hafkamp. “By placing the air cooling unit outside the engine room and reducing heavy components to a minimum we have come up with an efficient design that meets our client’s requirements.”
At their in-house production facilities, DBR is engineering this generator set within a single instead of the usual double frame due to the limited space involved. Consequently, the construction uses more robust components to reduce the subsequent risks of vibrations and guarantee DBR’s usual high offshore standards.
DBR selected a MAN E2842 E312 lambda 1 engine, which has an optimum oxygen to gas ratio, and a Leroy Somer air-to-air cooled generator. The gas engine driven package will be able to operate for up to 1,200 hours between maintenance intervals due to its DBR Long Running System. Any future maintenance will be an efficient procedure as the unit uses stainless steel flanged joints. Continuing DBR’s quality standards, this 275kVA generator set has ATEX Zone II approved and high-end components like SMART/HART type transmitters to ensure safe operation on an offshore gas platform. The emission level of the total DBR gas package is according to BEMS.
Based in Sliedrecht, the Netherlands, DBR provides customized solutions in the field of power supply for offshore platforms, ships and onshore applications.
