Cubility Opens Malaysia Office
Cubility AS, a provider of solids control solutions and efficiency around drilling operations, has announced the opening of a new wholly owned office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to be lead by newly appointed office head Terje Vastveit.
As Far East Regional Manager, Terje’s brief will be to grow Cubility’s business in the region and provide technical support to existing operations. The announcement is in response to growing demand for Cubility’s innovative MudCube technology and confirmation of the company’s ambitious growth plans in the region.
The MudCube revolutionizes solids control operations as an alternative to traditional shale shakers, providing operators, drilling and rig contractors with improved operational efficiencies, reduced drilling waste levels and a better HSE environment both onshore and offshore. Cubility will also be targeting Asian rig yards where the goal is for the MudCube to become an integrated part of new rig designs.
“Today’s announcement is a real signal of intent from Cubility as we look to expand our global footprint and provide Asian operators with a complete solids control solution,” said Cubility CEO, Even Gjesdal. “With Terje’s decades of international experience and the continued innovations behind the MudCube, we are confident of delivering real change to Asian drilling operations.”
His comments were backed up by Terje Vastveit: “This is a tremendously exciting time for Cubility in Asia with operators from Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, China and Australia all looking for new measures to improve drilling efficiency, reduce drilling waste and meet tightening environmental legislation. Cubility’s MudCube solution is uniquely positioned to meet this demand.”
Terje has over 35 years’ international experience in the drilling fluids industry. Previous roles prior to joining Cubility include African Regional Manager for Australian Mud Company where he covered the whole African market and Area and Country Manager roles at M-I Swaco in the Caribbean, Russia, Colombia and South East Asia.
The MudCube is based around the concept that solid control and mud treatment is no longer dependent on traditional shaker technologies prevalent in the oil and gas sector since the 1930’s. Rather than G force-based, vibrating shale-shakers, the MudCube uses a combination of high airflow and vacuum technology to remove solids from drilling fluids. The MudCube’s improved separation capabilities mean that the separated drilling fluid is of better quality and reduces the need to spend resources on additional chemicals to improve the mud properties.
The MudCube improves operational efficiencies, reduces costs through a significant reduction in waste levels, and enhances mud quality alongside a variety of other operational and financial benefits. The remote, automated MudCube brings considerable HSE benefits as its enclosed system eliminates exposure towards oil mist and oil vapour, eradicates structural vibration and significantly reduces noise levels.
