Costa Silva Elected to Petrobras' Board
Petrobras Board today elected Mr. Nelson Luiz Costa Silva as Director of Strategy, Organization and Management System of the Company.
Nelson Luiz Costa Silva graduated in Naval Engineering at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo in 1977 and attended the CEAG (Specialization Course Graduate) of the Getulio Vargas Foundation in 1980.
He has a career spanning more than 40 years experience international 25 years living in Mexico, Belgium, Japan, Argentina, France and England. For 17 years he held various executive positions in Vale, including global commercial director of Iron Ore based in Rio, Brussels and Tokyo.
He was CEO of ALL-America Latina Logistica in Buenos Aires and CEO of Embraer Europe based in Paris. It was global president of BHP Billiton (BHPLF) aluminum and commercial director of Iron Ore, Coal and Manganese based in London and later in Singapore.
In 2009, Nelson Silva joined the BG Group (BRGXF) responsible individual and group businesses in South America, including exploration and production of oil and gas operated blocks and not operated in Brazil and Bolivia, distribution of gas and activities offshore transshipment in Uruguay. He was chairman of Comgás October 2009 until its divestment by BG in November 2012. He remained as CEO of BG in Brazil until the recent sale of the Shell group.
