Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners closes third offshore wind project with Taiwan
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, a clean energy fund manager, announced on Wednesday that it had reached financial closure on its 495 Megawatt (MW), Fengmiao I Wind Project, located off the coast Taichung in Taiwan.
CIP released a statement saying that "Fengmiao I will be the first offshore project in Taiwan supported by corporate offtakers, and it will provide much-needed clean power to large energy consumers in Taiwan."
CIP announced that Fengmiao 1, its third offshore wind farm in Taiwan, would be built by local and international suppliers with proven track records.
CIP reports that Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas will provide 33 units of their latest 15MW turbines for Fengmiao I. Vestas supplies turbines to CIP’s two existing projects.
CIP announced that its fifth flagship fund CI V held its final close in March, and that it exceeded its target of $12.08 billion ($13.08billion).
The fund aims at investing in energy transition technologies across a wide range of technologies - from solar PV and wind to battery storage - in low risk OECD countries across Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific.
CIP said that CI V had made six final investments decisions and committed 60% of the funds. (Reporting and editing by Kim Coghill, Louise Breusch Rasmussen)
