Change in GL Renewables Certification Management
During February 2011 Christian Nath hands over the management of GL Renewables Certification. AndreasSchroeter has been appointed as his successor as Senior Vice President GL Renewables Certification and Mike Woebbeking will be Vice President GL Renewables Certification and Head of the Certification Body.
Christian Nath will continue to support the organization in a consultative capacity until the end of 2011. GL Renewables Certification, part of the GL Group, is one of the leading certification bodiesprimarily focussed on the certification of wind farms, wind turbines and their components as well as marine renewable energy. Over the last decades, Mr Nath has considerably expanded GL’s position in thecertification of wind energy worldwide. At the forefront of renewables technology, the organisation is abreast of all the necessary standards and requirements and takes a harmonised approach in ensuring that these are met. Manufacturers, banks and insurers around the world rely on the state-of-the-artservices provided by GL Renewables Certification. Christian Nath holds a degree as a Diplom-Ingenieur for Naval Architecture from the Technical University of Hanover in Germany. Upon his graduation, he received a research fellowship for a year at the University of California, Berkeley, where he worked as a visiting scholar in nonlinear finiteelement analysis. After his return to Germany, he took up employment at Germanischer Lloyd (GL) in thestructural analysis group. Since 1993 he has been responsible for wind energy at GL. Recently, as Head of GL Renewables Certification.
Andreas Schroeter will take over the responsibilities as Senior Vice President GL Renewables Certification. He holds a degree from the University of Bochum as a Diplom Ingenieur and a MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona. Most of his professional life he has been spent in telecommunications in which he has had a variety of sales, service and country CEO positions. He hasexperience of doing business in both Latin America and Asian countries as well as in Europe and speaks German, English and Spanish fluently. Mike Woebbeking will take over the position as Vice President GL Renewables Certification and Head of the Certification Body. He holds a degree in civil engineering from the Technical University ofHanover, Germany, and is an European / international welding engineer (EWE / IWE). AT GL, he has been involved in the certification of wind turbines and the development guidelines and standards since joining GL in 2001. He has experience as third party expert, head of department, business development manager and, most recently, Deputy Head of GL Renewables Certification in the past years.
