Brazil Ethanol Sales Drop 6.8% in the Year

Posted by March 18, 2016

Brazil hydrous ethanol sales, used by the country's flex-fuel car fleet, fell 6.8 pct in the year through February compared to the same period a year earlier as near-record prices drove off consumers, Brazil's petroleum and fuels regulator ANP said on Friday.

Gasoline sales also fell, but at a slower rate, dropping 2.6 percent versus the volume seen by February 2015. Diesel sales fell 6.6 percent in the two first months of the year versus similar period in 2015, reflecting reduced economic activity as Brazil faces its worst recession in decades.
