July 22, 2014

SGC Engineering has received an industry award in recognition of its exceptional application of geospatial technology. The company was honored with a Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award at the Esri International User Conference (Esri UC) in San Diego, California.

SGC is a multidisciplinary engineering firm specializing in serving the energy and utility industry in the United States and Canada. SGC, which is a part of global-leading energy services company LR Senergy and a member of the Lloyds Register Group, uses Esri ArcGIS technology to manage project data from a variety of sources including its own surveying professionals.

SGC specializes in spatial data compilation and custom application development to give clients the tools necessary to effectively manage a project from the planning stages, to construction, to post-construction and through to operations. SGC has delivered superior GIS and data management solutions to some of the top pipeline, utility, and engineering companies throughout the United States.

The Esri award acknowledges vision, leadership, hard work, and innovative use of Esri's geographic information system (GIS) technology.  The company believes the ArcGIS platform maximizes its ability to integrate CAD, GPS, conventional survey, and other data formats to maximize value and decision making across all aspects of their projects.  As such, SGC has committed significant resources over the last four years to analyze and redefine workflows and build tools to optimize core survey and engineering data management processes in order to deliver the best possible data products to their clients.

Gary Volta, GIS Lead at SGC Engineering, said, “We provide solutions-based GIS support services to our clients by utilizing our data management expertise along with our innovative technology to provide the best response to our clients’ needs. To receive the Esri award is fantastic industry endorsement of how SGC is successfully implementing the technology.”

Esri president, Jack Dangermond, said, "The SAG Awards identify the organizations and people that are using the power of geography to improve our world and drive change. At Esri, we are always deeply inspired by the passion and innovation of our users. They deserve recognition for both solving their communities’ greatest challenges and for their invaluable contributions to the continued evolution of geographic science.”
