Arctic Pipeline being Built from Messoyakhinskoe

December 8, 2014

Messoyakhneftegaz has began building a pressurized pipeline from the Messoyakhinskoe group of deposits, located to the north of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region, to the main Arctic Circle-Purpe pipeline system.

The oil pipeline with a maximum capacity of 7 million tonnes a year will be laid on both sides at the same time, and its length is 96.5 km. Oil transportation is scheduled to begin at the end of 2016 after the launch of the East Messoyakhinskoe oil fields into operation.

Messoyakhneftegaz has entered into a preliminary contract for pumping raw materials at the Arctic Circle-Purpe with Transneft.

Along the river Indikyakhha and Muduyakha, the pipeline will cross underground. Based on discussions with community organizations and leaders of the deer community, the route of the pipeline that does not cross valuable pastures was chosen. In addition, the establishment of 14 special crossings for deer is stipulated.

The Messoyakhinskoe group includes deposits of East Messoyakhinskoe and West Messoyakhinskoe deposit, which is the most northern of the known onshore oil fields in Russia. Licenses for exploration and development of belong to Messoyakhneftegaz, which is controlled by Gazprom Neft (SIBN.ME) and Rosneft. Gazprom Neft is the operator of the project.
