ALMACO Wins Statoil Order for 450 Cabins

Posted by February 8, 2016

ALMACO Group was awarded the contract to build 450 NORSOK-compliant Modular Cabins for Statoil (STO)’s Johan Sverdrup fixed platform at Apply Leirvik’s yard in Stord, Norway.

ALMACO’s delivery will consist of modular cabin deliveries to Apply and Kvaener in Stord, and to Emtunga in Sweden, prior the Living Quarter blocks being transported to Kvaerner for integration.

ALMACO’s scope of work for this project includes the supply of 450 NORSOK-compliant modular cabins to be incorporated into the Living Quarter being built at Apply Leirvik’s yard. The modular cabins will be built at ALMACO’s facilities in Finland and will be delivered in separate batches to Apply Emtunga in Sweden, to Apply Leirvik in Stord, Norway, and to Kvaerner also in Stord, Norway.

After a successful mock-up project that started in 2014, ALMACO entered into a framework agreement with Statoil for standard cabins that will serve Statoil’s offshore accommodation needs. Under the agreement, which was signed in early 2015, ALMACO is invited to tender for all modular cabin projects for Statoil throughout 2018. ALMACO was awarded the contract for the 450 modular cabins in January 2016 and all the cabins will be delivered before February 2018.

The Living Quarter, under construction at Apply Leirvik, has a bed capacity of 560 people and will accommodate the working personnel at the Johan Sverdrup field for more than 50 years, being considered the largest living quarters on the NCS (Norwegian Continental Shelf). Mikael Liljeström, ALMACO’s Offshore Division President, states, “ALMACO is well suited for this project as it has extensive expertise in delivering high-quality modular cabins in the marine and offshore industries, surpassing 25,000 cabins built and modernized since the company’s inception.”
