Adani Power wins 25-year power supply contract with Maharashtra after winning joint bid
Adani Power, Adani Green Energy and Adani Energy won a bid for a combined supply of 6,600 MW renewable and thermal energy to Maharashtra State over a 25-year period.
Adani Green Energy’s wind-solar power plant in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, has been supplying green energy to Mumbai, Maharashtra's capital, since March 2023.
Adani Green Energy, Adani Power and Adani Power will be able to increase their presence in Maharashtra with the new contract.
Adani Green Energy and Adani Power have won the tender. Adani Green Energy is to supply 5,000MW of solar energy from its renewable power park in Khavda, Kutch district in Gujarat State. Adani Power has been awarded 1,600MW of thermal power.
Adani Power announced that Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company had issued a letter transferring the contract to Adani Power. Both companies will sign separate agreements for their respective supply of power, Adani Power stated in a press release.
Maharashtra's power consumption is projected to reach 200 Terawatt Hours by 2028. According to the estimates of the state, 32% will come from renewable resources. Dhwani Pandya reported the story. (Editing by Jane Merriman.)
